SALEM: The police have registered cases against Pattali Makkal Katchi’s Omalur MLA A. Tamilarasu for Monday’s violent incidents at Omalur during cooperative polls. The MLA, along with Salem Central District secretary Murugan and 40 other PMK cadres is facing charges under Sections 147, 148, 323, 324 and 506 (ii) of the IPC. Cases have also been registered against 28 persons belonging to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam under Sections 147, 148 and 324 for the same issue. Two PMK cadres have arrested. Reacting to the charges, Mr. Tamilarasu told The Hindu that on instructions from the local DMK leadership, the police registered false cases against him and party cadres.
