Mine worker killed in blast

Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR: A worker was killed in an explosion in a limestone mine between Muchukota and Nayanapalli of Pedda Pappur mandal in Anantapur district on Monday.

He succumbed to injuries at the government hospital here.

The police said Murali (20) of Joolayipalli in the Singanamala mandal was asked on Monday morning to bring back the explosives planted in the mine on Sunday night as they failed to explode.

However, they went off the moment he tried to remove them.

Nobody dared to enter the mine for several hours fearing more explosives could go off.
