Unique programme: Software professionals attending a cooking training programme in Tiruchi.
TIRUCHI: “Cut the onions and add them on to the ginger-garlic paste.” “But hey, the database of this recipe is missing.” If it still doesn’t ring any bells for you, this is a sample dialogue that took place when geeks get into kitchen.
‘A day in the kitchen’ taught the software professionals of GFT Technologies that cooking is not as trouble-free as writing a 100-lined programme. “It is a different ball game altogether,” the techies chorus.
The event, organised in coordination with the Jenneys Academy of Catering and Hotel Management, had 60 employees into the kitchen for a half a day. The team donned aprons and chef caps and set to work with knives, ladles and kitchen paraphernalia.
From sumptuous main dishes to spicy accompaniments, the team, split in different groups, managed to satiate the taste-buds of the judges. The teams were judged based on varied criteria such as taste, presentation and creativity.
Participants found their ‘kitchen experience’ an opportunity to hone their inter-personal relationships and a platform to test their group dynamic skills.
The post-lunch session witnessed a presentation by the Academy on table setting, table manners and dining etiquette, which would come in handy during their onsite visits abroad, the organisers say.
The Director of the Academy Ponnilango, faculty Paalvanna and Director of GFT Technologies Leo Ananth coordinated the event.
