PATNA: Railways IG Amrik Singh Nimran on Tuesday ordered the arrest of Railway Protection Force DIG Premjit Rawal, following complaints that he assaulted an IAS officer and her sister, wife of an IPS officer, on the Patna-bound Sampoorna Kranti Express on Sunday night. Vandana Preyasi, who is with the Home Department here, and her sister Sujata, wife of IPS officer Gautam Chima, lodged a complaint with the TTE of the Delhi-Patna Sampoorna Kranti Express, saying that they were assaulted by Mr. Rawal between the Kanpur and Mughalsarai stations. Ms. Sujata accused Mr. Rawal of trying to outrage her modesty in a drunken state when she was sleeping in the lower berth of AC first class. Ms. Preyasi also lodged a formal complaint with the State Government here, following which Home Secretary Afzal Amanullah forwarded the same to the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Railway Board. Bailable
Mr. Nimran issued orders for the arrest of Mr. Rawal under sections that are bailable and cognisable. However, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad denied the occurrence of any untoward incident. He said DG, RPF, M.K.Sinha, inquired into the matter and found the whole thing baseless. He, however, said the law would take its own course.
