TIRUCHI: Qualifier Manu Bajpai of Karnataka defeated wildcard entrant Rohit Choudhary of Rajasthan 6-4, 2-6, 6-0 and entered the pre-quarterfinals of the all-India ranking tennis tournament, jointly conducted by the Tiruchi District Tennis Association and City Club on Tuesday. The results: Singles (first round): Manu Bajpai (Kar) bt Rohit Choudhary (Raj) 6-4, 2-6, 6-0; Ashwin Vijayaragavan (AP) bt S. Siddharth (TN) 6-2, 6-0; Krishna Karsolia (UP) bt P. Manikandan (TN) 6-1, 7-6(5); Kaushik Raju (Kar) bt Manav Dhawan (Pun) 6-4, 6-3. Doubles: Final qualifying round: Vishesh Bhatia / Khetan Dhumal bt Jagadeesh Kumar / Veera Vasanth 7-5, 6-3; Siddharth Alapatti / Vivek Reddy bt Bhishma Desai / Parth Indrodia 4-6, 6-3, 10-8.
