Gopal shares lead

NEW DELHI: International Master G.N. Gopal moved to joint lead after drawing with Armenia’s Hrant Melkumyan in the fourth round of the Lake Sevan International chess tournament at Martuni, Armenia, on Monday. Gopal now has 2.5 points and shares the lead with Georgian GM David Arutinian and Ukranian IM Yuri Vovk.

Humpy on top

At Differdange (Luxembourg), K. Humpy shared the lead at 3.5 points after beating Viesturs Meijers of Latvia in the fourth round of the Kaupthing Open. G. Rohit lost to another joint leader Dejan Bojkov of Bulgaria. Thomas Henrichs (Germany) and Victor Erdos (Hungary) are the other two leaders.

In the Canadian Open at Ottawa, Sandipan Chanda drew with Vietman’s Tu Hoang Thong and Abhijit Kunte drew with Canada’s Liam Henry.
