It has come up at Bapuji MBA College grounds Brijesh Patel will inaugurate the pitch
DAVANGERE: It is a dream come true for cricketers of Davangere and surrounding districts. A new turf pitch has been laid at the sprawling Bapuji MBA College grounds here. Turf pitches are in a few places such as Bangalore and Mysore, and cricketers in other places have no exposure to such pitches as they practice and play on mats. The wicket has been prepared with the assistance of Bapuji Education Association, Essar Company, Shamanur Sugars and Karnataka State Cricket Association. K. Shashidhar, chairman of the Venus Cricket Club here, supervised the laying of the pitch. Davangere, which produced many promising players such as Vinaykumar, who is represents the State in the Ranji Trophy, can now hold important league matches by the KSCA and also Ranji matches. Other works such as erection of sight screens will be carried out in the next couple of weeks. Honorary secretary of the KSCA and former Test player Brijesh Patel will inaugurate the turf wicket on Saturday. G.R.Vishwanath, former Test player and vice-president of the KSCA, V. Jagannath, vice-president of KSCA and Davangere MLA and secretary of the Bapuji education association Shyamanur Shivashankarappa will participate in the function.
