SANKAGIRI: Three women were killed and three others injured in when the car in which they were travelling collided with a van near here on Wednesday. The police said that the deceased were: Rajammal (65) of Sankagiri, her daughter-in-law Santhamani (40) and grand daughter Suganthi (30). Her relative Sakthivel (31) and Raja and Kuppusamy, who were travelling in the van, were admitted to Erode Government Hospital. Youth killed
A youth was killed and four others injured when a lorry hit a motorcycle at Karipatti, near here, on Wednesday. The police said that Kuppuraj (22) of Valasaiyur was riding the motorcycle, when the accident took place. He died immediately. Selvaraj (12), who was riding pillion, and lorry driver, cleaner and another person travelled in the lorry sustained injuries and were admitted to Salem Government Medical College Hospital. The Border Security Force has reserved 10 Constable (General Duty) posts for the ex-servicemen in the State. Those willing to apply for the post can obtain the application forms in the Ex-Servicemen Welfare Office. A press release here has said that the last date for submitting application forms is July 15. Officials have seized 300 bags of rice meant for supply under the Public Distribution System in Paramathi Velur on Tuesday. Official sources said that acting on a tip off, the team conducted a vehicle check up in Paramathi Velur and intercepted a lorry proceeding to Karnataka. Its driver and cleaner fled from the scene. The Salem District Cooperative Milk Producers Union has allotted Rs. 12 lakh for procuring veterinary medicines in the first phase this year. A press release here has said that 20 veterinarians of the union were visiting the milk cooperative societies periodically and extending their services. More than one lakh milch animals were being covered through the union’s veterinary services. The veterinarians were educating the milk producers about modern animal husbandry practices. The union has decided to purchase certain medicines such as vaccine for the foot-and-mouth disease on priority basis this year. It has appealed to the milk producers to use the services of veterinarians for treating the animals. Motivation camps
Krishnagiri district administration will organise industrial motivation camps in Krishnagiri and Hosur to explain the Prime Minister’s Rozgar Yojana (PMRY) scheme to entrepreneurs in rural areas and ways of obtaining loans from banks to start self-employment venture under the scheme.
