NAMAKKAL: The district administration has completed 2,922 development works taken up under Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam in 66 villages, Collector G. Sundaramurthi has said.
Inspecting various development works being carried out in Namakkal Panchayat union on Wednesday, the Collector said that the 66 villages had been selected under the scheme last year.

The administration selected 66 more villages this financial year to carry out development works under the scheme.
Works such as formation of concrete paths, installation of sodium vapour lamps, creation of playground, laying of pipelines for drinking water supply, removing silt from the temple ponds and ooranis, developing inland fishery, building reading rooms, creation of basic amenities in crematorium grounds and renovation of village markets would be carried out at an estimated cost of Rs. 13.20 crore in these villages.
Development
The scheme was aimed at ensuring holistic development in the rural areas.
The Collector inspected works taken up in Kondichettipatti, Kavettipatti, Vallipuram, Kosavampatti, Vettampadi, Chinna Muthalaipatti, Aval Naickanpatti, Nallipalayam and Ayyampalayam village in Namakkal block.
District Rural Development Agency Project officer P. Renuga Devi and senior officials accompanied the Collector during the inspection.
