Staff Reporter
Thiruvananthapuram: A team of medical experts, from Kottayam, Alappuzha and Thiruvananthapuram Medical Colleges, have started investigations in the fever-affected pockets in Pathanamthitta. This is following reports of various side effects of viral fever in patients. The team includes doctors from the Departments of Physical Medicine, Community Medicine and Microbiology. Scientists at the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology will also join the team in the investigations. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting convened by Health Minister P.K. Sreemathy here on Wednesday. The medical team will visit Kanjirappally taluk hospital, the community health centre at Ranni-Perinad, the Pathanamthitta General hospital and Punalur taluk hospital. Blood samples would be collected from 150 fever-afflicted persons, and sent for detailed analysis. The Health Minister said the doctors who were taken on contract basis two days ago would be asked to join service immediately.
