Bangalore: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Wednesday assured the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly that more high schools and junior colleges would be sanctioned to their constituencies and a decision would be made in a week. Replying to a debate on the alleged discrimination in sanctioning of high schools and junior colleges, during Question Hour, the Chief Minister said justice would be done to north Karnataka when the second list of places where high schools and junior colleges to be started, was announced. Mr. Kumaraswamy told members such as Basavaraj Rayareddy and B.R. Patil, who were agitated over the sanction of only 22 out of the 199 high schools to north Karnataka, that the Government would decide in a non-partisan manner while sanctioning high schools and hostels for the backward classes. Earlier, Leader of the Opposition N. Dharam Singh demanded that Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj Horatti come to the House and make a statement on the issue. Mr. Patil supported by others saw the hand of Public Works Minister H.D. Revanna in the sanction of more schools to the constituencies represented by the coalition partners, ignoring the Opposition members. The Congress members, led by Mr. Singh, trooped into the well when Speaker Krishna adjourned the House. Later, he held a meeting of Ministers and Opposition leaders in his chamber for resolving the issue.
