dated July 12, 1957: Nehru in Cairo

Prime Minister Nehru flew into Cairo on July 10 from The Hague for important talks with President Nasser on international problems, particularly those of West Asia and Egypt. He was received personally at the Almazza military airport by President Nasser. In a statement to pressmen before leaving for the Indian Embassy, Mr. Nehru said: “I am happy to be back in Cairo. I have come exactly a year after my last visit, a year which was full of all kinds of developments – good and bad. Individuals and countries were affected by these developments and they have left on them great impressions. The Egyptian people had great difficulties and dangers but they met them with courage and they were strengthened by them.”
