AG (AP) wins

HYDERABAD: Accountant General (AP) scored a 4-3 win over State Bank of India in the A-1 division hockey league championship on Wednesday.

AGAP took the lead in the fifth minute through a field goal by Karunakar only to see the Bankmen equalise within five minutes when Chandra Kumar was on target. Soon, AGAP increased the lead through Ibrahim. The scores were 2-2 when Suresh scored for SBI.

AGAP struck twice through Ibrahim and Z.A. Dara for a 4-2 lead. Though Surender Singh struck for Bankmen, it came too late to change his team’s fortunes.

Arafat XI scores win

Arafat XI scored a 6-4 win over Motinagar via tie-breaker in the Salar-e-Millat Challenge Cup football tournament here.

The teams were locked 2-2 at the end of full-time. In the tie-breaker the goal-scorers for winners were Mohd Aziz, Aslam, Anwar and Shareef while Maqsood and Shravan reduced the margin.

Aquatics meet

SAAP selections

Selections for the 17 Academies run by the SAAP across the State have been completed and the letters of admission have been despatched to the selected players.
