BHOPAL: United Progressive Alliance candidate Pratibha Patil attended a specially convened coordination meeting for the Presidential election here on Wednesday. Except for Union Minister Kamal Nath, who could not be here due to other engagements, all prominent State Congress leaders, including Arjun Singh, Suresh Pachouri, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Digvijay Singh, Kantilal Bhuria and Satyavrat Chaturvedi attended the meeting. Some non-Congress legislators were among those present. They included Harsh Singh (Rashtriya Samanta Dal), Dilip Singh (Ind) and Hamid Quazi (Nationalist Congress Party). Also present were Union Minister Prithviraj Chauhan and Congress general secretary in charge of Madhya Pradesh Narayan Sami Later, the Congress M.P. from Guna, Jyotiraditya Scindia, flanked by PCC president Subhash Yadav said that all UPA constituents in Madhya Pradesh would be voting for Ms. Patil. “We are fortunate that she found time to be with us,” he added. Mr. Scindia condemned the Bharatiya Janata Party’s “tirade” against Ms. Patil and said what was reprehensible was that they were hurling personal accusations completely devoid of truth.
