Collector summoned by rights forum

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Warangal Collector has been summoned by the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) to explain the lathicharge by police against anganwadi workers that led to injuries to some of them during their demonstration near the Collectorate on Monday. The Commission has fixed the date for her appearance on July 20, a press release of SHRC said.

The statement said the commission was prima facie satisfied that the police had committed violation of human rights against anganwadi workers by resorting to lathicharge when they were agitating for resolution of their demands. The Commission has sought a report from the Additional Director of Medical and Health Services explaining how the petition of Krishnamurthy, Training Officer of State Health Museum could be addressed.
