In colleges with minority status quota will be 40%

Caste/income certificates by fax will not be accepted

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As many as 6.24 lakh course/college options were submitted online by candidates figuring in the engineering/medical rank list on Wednesday. By 8.30 p.m. 15,300 students had registered their options on the web site www.cee.kerala.gov.in.

The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations notified on Wednesday the eligibility criteria for reservations in Government seats in self-financing professional colleges. In colleges with minority status, this would be 40 per cent of the total seats while in other colleges it would be 50 per cent.

Of the seats in the Government quota, 5 per cent will be for the economically weaker sections among the forward communities. Forty per cent of the Government seats will be for the merit-cum-means category; those whose annual family income is less than or equal to Rs. 2.5 lakh.

Candidates showing excellence in arts, sports and those coming under the ‘persons with disabilities’ (PWD) categories will each get one per cent of the seats. Apart from this, two per cent of the total seats in self-financing colleges under the Government have been set apart for those belonging to the economically weaker sections among the forward communities and one per cent each for those showing excellence in arts, sports and for those coming under the PWD category.

Those with annual family income of Rs.2.5 lakh or less should submit an income certificate from the Revenue authorities along with a caste certificate.

The pro forma of these certificates is given on the web site cee-kerala.org.

In colleges with a minority status that have signed a fee-seat agreement with the Government, 20 per cent of the Government seats will be set apart for students from the minority community that runs the college whose annual family income is equal to or less than Rs. 2.5 lakh. Candidates eligible for this reservation should submit the caste and income certificates to the CEE before 5 p.m. on July 16.

Candidates who have secured A grade in youth festivals conducted by the higher secondary and vocational higher secondary directorates are eligible for reservation in one per cent of Government seats. Such candidates should submit an attested copy of the A grade certificate before 5 p.m. on July 16.

Caste/income certificates sent by fax will not be accepted under any circumstances.
