KANNUR: A special team of the Tamil Nadu police reached here on Tuesday in connection with the investigation into the murder of a woman hailing from Kannur in a hotel room in Coimbatore a few days ago.
Police sources here said the police team from Coimbatore, led by a Circle Inspector, was looking for a man from Thavakkara in the town.
According to information available with the police here, the victim, Kavitha, 28, belonged to a poor family at Mayyil near here.
Identity traced
His identity was traced from the mobile phone number found in the bag of the deceased, they said.
The also said that the Tamil Nadu police team got the address of the suspect from the mobile phone company.
The reports said the woman checked into the hotel room with a man, ostensibly as a married couple.
Victim stabbed
Her body with multiple stab wounds was found on the night of July 8.
The Coimbatore police found the name and place of the deceased on a paper recovered from the hotel room.
It also recovered a photograph of her taken from a studio here.
