CHENNAI: Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Wednesday began a review of performance of various Ministries here. The review will be on till July 18.
On Wednesday it was the turn of the Highways department. Its Minister M.P. Saminathan and Secretary K.Allaudin made presentations to the Chief Minister on the progress of works across the State and explained to him the status of projects announced in the budget.
It was decided to speed up laying of 6,530 km of roads, building 12 flyovers and 175 big and small bridges for which orders have been issued.
As much as 200 km of roads would be re-laid with the Rs.723 crore allotted to the department.
