Mason held for murder of wife

Drinking habit is said to have caused quarrel between them

CHENNAI: Police arrested a mason who allegedly killed his wife on Tuesday night.

Police said that Marimuthu had been married to Davamani and they had a son and a daughter.

They were living in Bharathi Nagar in MGR Nagar police station limits.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that Marimuthu was an alcoholic, which annoyed his wife.

This led to frequent problems between them.

Wordy duel

On Tuesday night, a wordy duel that started between them snowballed into a big fight.

In a fit of rage, Marimuthu was reported to have killed his wife.

The police are conducing further investigations.

Unclaimed body

Police are investigating the death of a middle aged man, whose body was recovered at Mogappair on Wednesday. It is suspected the victim was stoned to death. The body has been sent to Government Hospital for post-mortem.
