KOCHI: The district Health authorities on Wednesday collected 26 samples of blood, serum and throat swabs from patients who showed some unusual symptoms. These will be sent to the National Institute of Communicable Diseases in New Delhi to identify the virus or any other micro-organism causing the symptoms. The samples were collected from Muvatupuzha Taluk hospital, Ramamangalam, Vadavukode, Kalloorkkad and Manjalloor. On Wednesday, 13 cases of chikungunya were reported in the district. More than 6,400 people with viral infections came for medical treatment in various hospitals in the district. There was also a case each of chickenpox and hepatitis A. — Staff Reporter
