Five girls tell police team that they were molested

Father of one of the girls filed a police complaint

BANGALORE: The Hulimavu police on Wednesday arrested a 55-year-old man who had allegedly molested five minor girls at an orphanage run in his house in Krishna Layout. While one girl has been sent along with her father, the police are making alternative arrangements for the other victims. The police said the accused Ramesh was running the orphanage in the name of “Karnataka State Human Rights Trust”. For the past two months, five girls aged over 10 were living in it.

On Wednesday, father of a girl came to the orphanage to see his daughter’s condition. The girl told him that Ramesh had molested her. This made the father to file a complaint. A police team went to the orphanage and made enquiries with the other girls. They reportedly tol the team that Ramesh had molested them earlier. The police arrested Ramesh, a bachelor.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Mico Layout) Rajendra Prasad said Ramesh was advertising in newspapers about providing free lodging and boarding facility for poor and orphan children.

Mr. Prasad told The Hindu that investigations were on to know the antecedents of Ramesh against whom a criminal case had been registered two years ago.
