NEW DELHI: A court here on Wednesday rejected the bail pleas of Bharatiya Janata Party MP Babubhai Katara, who is facing prosecution in a human trafficking case, and co-accused Rajendra Kumar Gampa and Sunder Lal Yadav. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kamini Lau rejected Katara’s plea saying the investigating agency had at its disposal 90 days to file a charge-sheet in the case. Katara had sought bail on the ground that all sections of the Indian Penal Code, barring one, invoked against him required the charge-sheet to be filed only within 60 days. He had added that Section 467 of the IPC, which gave the investigating agency 90 days to file charge-sheet, was invoked against him unfairly and much after registering the FIR. The police had already submitted that they would be filing the charge-sheet within the stipulated time.
