‘No weapon was recovered’

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: A defence witness on Wednesday claimed in the trial court hearing the Nitish Katara murder case that no weapon of offence was recovered at the instance of prime accused Vikas Yadav and his cousin and co-accused Vishal Yadav as claimed by the prosecution.

Deposing before Additional Sessions Ravinder Kaur, witness Rajendra Chaudhary said the court had allowed him to accompany the accused when they were being taken to Khurja in Uttar Pradesh from where the prosecution claimed to have recovered the weapon of offence. However, since the police did not allow him to come in the same vehicle in which the accused were going, he followed the police vehicle in his own car, Chaudhary told the court. He said he did not see anything being recovered from the alleged scene of crime.
