Thirvananthapuram: The police have identified those responsible for the murder of C. Asokan, a Kerala State Financial Enterprises (KSFE) employee, whose strangled body was found, hands tied, near the National Highway at Pathankallu on Wednesday morning. Asokan, a peon attached to the KSFE office in Neyyatinkara, had left his office around 10.30 a.m. with Rs.4 lakh. He was supposed to deposit the amount at a nearby bank. The police were alerted after Asokan failed to return. After 12 noon, the local people at Pathankallu informed the police that they saw two persons dragging a body out of a private car and attempting to bury it in a nearby tapioca plantation. They abandoned the body and fled the spot when the people raised an alarm. The police identified the body as that of the missing peon. The car owner was traced. The police found a spade, plastic rope and Rs.3.98 lakh inside the vehicle. The police suspect that the killers to have lured Asokan into the car with the help of a common contact.
