Brahmapuram plant to be completed as per schedule: Collector Collector given charge of waste management
KOCHI: Six places not far away from the city have been identified for dumping the waste till the proposed solid waste treatment plant at Brahmapuram is commissioned, Ernakulam District Collector A.P.M Mohammed Hanish said on Wednesday. Talking to reporters, Mr. Hanish hinted that the places identified were less inhabited. He said the list of places has been handed over to Advocate-General C.P. Sudhakara Prasad for securing the approval of the High Court. After obtaining the approval, the district administration will start removing the garbage that has piled up in various parts of the city over the last few days. He said the waste treatment plant at Brahmapuram will be completed as per schedule. A meeting will be held with the Andhra Pradesh-based company, which has been entrusted with the construction work to decide the future course of action. Meanwhile, the Government Order entrusting the District Collector with the charge of waste management and the construction of the treatment plant was issued on Wednesday. The Government has also directed Corporation secretary Mini Antony to make all payments on waste management only with the approval of the District Collector.
