CHENNAI: Election officials from the Corporation will soon begin a drive for 100 per cent coverage of voters’ photographs in the new electoral rolls. According to sources, only 77 per cent of voters’ photographs are in order in the draft rolls published last month. As a first step, officers will carry out an intensive door-to-door campaign in Anna Nagar constituency from July 13 to 31. They would distribute the photo inclusion forms (form ‘001-B’) directly to houses that do not have all its occupants featured in the rolls. Residents who receive such ‘001-B’ forms would have the option to either submit them back to the officials with an affixed passport size photograph or get photographed at their local Corporation divisional offices or the Zone V office situated at 183, Ponamallee High Road. Lukewarm response
Officials said the response to the draft rolls published on June 1 was lukewarm. Only around 11,500 residents even applied for corrections and inclusions in the rolls. The lack of any approaching elections was cited as reason.
