Quotation for construction of Vellayani road

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The principal secretary, Department of Public Works has informed the State Human Rights Commission that the quotation for the construction of the Vellayani-Kaliyur Road is under the consideration of the chief engineer, Road and Buildings.
The explanation was given in the wake of a suo motto case registered by commission chairman N. Dinakar based on newspaper reports. Motorists and pedestrians have a harrowing time passing through the six kilometre-stretch dotted with
potholes from Vellayani junction to Kaliyur. According to the Department of Public Works, even though a patch work was carried out in October 2005, a pipe burst near Shanthivila hospital lead to the destruction of the road.
