Posting of more doctors sought

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: The Chennai district unit of the Communist Party of India (CPI) has called for more doctors and sanitary workers to be posted to prevent the outbreak of communicable diseases, including cholera, in the city.

In a press release on Wednesday, CPI district secretary M. Veerapandian said that about 15 doctors and 110 nurses were not sufficient to prevent the epidemic.

Besides increasing the number of sanitary workers in the city, more equipment and ambulances must be provided for the health service, he said.
