HLC ayacut to get water from July 25

ANANTAPUR: Distribution of water to farmers within a canal system and water management between different systems of Tungabhadra Right High Level Canal (HLC) is going to be a tough task for the engineers and other staff of the canal administration this year. Water was released to the HLC at Tungabhadra Dam on Thursday and its release to different sub-systems would commence from July 25.

The Irrigation Advisory Board meeting held here today decided that water release would be taken up from the tail-end ayacut under each distributary and the ayacut in the beginning would get it later to ensure equal justice to all farmers. Minister for Panchayat Raj J. C. Diwakar Reddy directed the canal administration to prepare survey number wise details of ayacut which would get water and those which would not as per the availability of water allocated to the system. He also suggested that wide publicity be given to the equitable distribution proposed for the year.
