dated July 13, 1957: Vinoba on Bhoodan work

Addressing an all-party meeting in Kozhikode on July 11, Acharya Vinobha Bhave made an impassioned appeal to them to take up Bhoodan work wherein lay the solution of the problems that faced Kerala and the world. He said he was seeking the help and cooperation of all parties, but if the parties refused to give their support, he would shake hands cheerfully with fate. The Kozhikode Municipal Council presented a welcome address to Acharya Bhave in the evening at the Municipal Town Hall, which was packed to capacity in spite of the inclement weather. Addressing the gathering in Hindi, Vinoba Bhave said they must realise that if the basement was weak the upper storey would be in danger, and similarly if the peasant and the labourer became weak, the country would become weak.
