When Majlis saw red

There is no end to the spat between the Communist parties and the Majlis. Ever since the Left parties chose to espouse the cause of people in the old city, the Majlis is leaving no opportunity to corner them. The latest is a letter reportedly written by Rajya Sabha member P. Madhu to the Jamia Nizamia enquiring about its funding. It has touched off a storm. The Majlis reacted quickly blaming Mr. Madhu for interfering in the affairs of the prestigious university, a seat of Islamic learning. Despite his clarification, the controversy refused to die. The Urdu newspapers are full it. The Majlis is planning public meetings on the issue.
