KANCHEEPURAM: Three persons were killed in a multiple collision on the East Coast Road near Pattipulam in the early hours on Thursday.
According to police, the driver of a lorry, running from Chennai to Karaikal, swerved the vehicle to avoid hitting an autorickshaw, which was parked on the left side of the carriageway owing to a technical snag.
But the lorry collided with a car coming from the opposite direction and two occupants of the car were killed on the spot.
t the same time, a contract carriage running behind hit the lorry and the driver died.
The dead were identified as Chandramouli (27) and Gopalakrishnan (25) of Chennai, and the contract carriage driver, Govindaraj (35) of Thittacheri in Nagapattinam district.
