Mohanlal
Mohanlal seems to be equally adept in handling tricky questions as he is with reel life characters. Reporters in Kozhikode found this on Thursday night. The occasion was a press meet arranged by the Awareness and Charity Trust (ACT), a Kochi-based organisation founded to fight terrorism. Mohanlal was there to give his message ahead of the trust̵ 7;s mass campaign against terrorism, which is scheduled to get to a start in October. The campaign will cover all the panchayats in the State. One lakh copies of a booklet on how to resist terrorism, prepared by Awareness and Charity Trust, will be distributed. Mohanlal spoke about how he came face to face with terrorism while shooting for Keerthichakra in Kashmir. “There were some 13 terrorist acts while we were shooting there,” he recalled. “But we were happy when many Army officers called up to say that Keerthichakra was the best Indian film ever about the Army.” After his speech, came the questions. He was asked how he could act in films that gave a negative message to society. “Cinema is not real life,” he explained. “It is only an act of make believe. If somebody is going to commit suicide after seeing a person do that in a film, I would call that man stupid.” When Mohanlal was asked why he starred in a recent surrogate ad, he said it was part of his job as an actor, before adding, “Why is nobody asking me about the ad I did about Aids for the State Government without charging any fee?” P.K.
