Traders to oppose MNCs in retailing

KASARAGOD: Swadeshi ideologue Govindacharya will inaugurate a meeting of traders being organised by the Swadeshi Jagaran Manch at Kasaragod Town Cooperative Bank Hall on July 15, State organising secretary of the Manch K.V. Biju has said.

The meeting is being organised to pressure the Government to enact a law to protect small scale traders and prevent entry of multinationals in the retailing sector, he said. MNCs’ foray into retailing had made the lives of small-scale traders miserable, he said.

The protest by Left parties against foreign investment in retail sector was meaningless as the UPA Government in Centre, which enjoys the Left’s support , had given approval to it.
