dated July 14, 1957: Aga Khan’s successor

Prince Karim, the eldest grandson of the late Aga Khan, has been named his successor as the 49th Imam of the Shiah Ismailia Muslim sect, it was announced in Geneva on July 12. Prince Karim is the son of Prince Aly Khan by his first marriage to the former Mrs. Leol Guinness. Prince Karim, a tall, slim, shy young man, will be the fourth holder of the title Aga Khan, originally bestowed by the British Government.
