Soldier kills wife, son and commits suicide

IMPHAL: An Indian Reserve Battalion soldier, attached to 1 Manipur Rifles, killed his wife and six-year-old son and then committed suicide at his home at Challou in Imphal East district in the early hours of Friday, police said.

Maibam Lalito had come home on a five-day leave. He reportedly picked up a quarrel with his wife and slit her throat with a knife. He then strangulated his son Rohit and hanged himself. The wife’s body was found on the bed and that of the son in the kitchen.
