Arvind Bhat bowed out in the first round

Baldwin Boys HS pounded Sarla Birla Academy 6-1 in a league encounter of the Fr. Eric Vaz Memorial inter-school hockey tournament here on Friday. Both teams have already progressed into the semifinals. Baldwin’s skipper Anup rattled the Sarla Birla Defence and scored twice (6th and 9th) in quick succession. Sarla Birla’s Bharath slotted home its first penalty corner in the 12th minute after which Baldwin continued its scoring spree. Malem (18th) took the score to 3-1 at half time. After the break Anup scored another two goals after the break (37th and 53rd) while Kennet (46th) slotted one in the interim for Baldwin. Host St. Joseph’s BHS will play Sarla Birla Academy in the first semifinal on Saturday while Baldwin will clash with St. Germain on Monday.
