Lightning kills three

BHUBANESWAR: At least three persons were killed and one other injured as lightning struck at Pachang village under Anandpur police station in Keonjhar district on Friday afternoon. The victims have been identified as Shyam Sundar Nayak (50), his brother Babaji Nayak (46) and Baju Jhalia (28). They were taking their launch near their paddy field when the incident happened. All the three persons died on the spot while another person, Hrushi Nayak, was injured as lightning struck. He was shifted Anandpur Hospital.

Similarly, three persons were killed in two separate incidents in Gondia and Sadar police stations of Dhenkanal district late on Thursday afternoon. Two victims were identified as Bimbadhar Palei (34) and Boli Deuri (52) in Gondia police station. They were working in paddy field as the lightening struck. Identification of the third victim was not yet ascertained.

BERHAMPUR: Lightning killed four persons in different parts of Ganjam district on Thursday evening. The victims were M.Bulu of Kalabada village in Chikiti block, Kalia Gouda of Sindhiba village near Nuagaon police station, Dibakar Swain of Belaguntha block and Kula Gouda of Khambarigaon village in Digaphandi block. They were grazing the animals and working at the fields when the lightning struck them.
