BHUBANESWAR: Army authorities on Friday filed a petition in a local court seeking transfer of a case registered against an officer of the rank of Major working with J&K Infantry. A case had been registered against Major Subhakant Mohanty for allegedly beating up a youth in connection with a quarrel over parking of vehicles recently. The youth was seriously injured and admitted in SCB Medical College. He is now under observation. Initially, the city police detained Major Mohanty and let him out. Enraged over the police action, locals besieged the police station and demanded action against the army officer. Police were forced to take the officer into his custody. Station Commandant of 120 Battalion Dinesh Kumar Singhdeo on Friday approached Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate Arun Kumar Sahoo and appeal for the transfer of the case to Army court.
