Training in horticulture

ANANTAPUR: A three-day training programme for field consultants and micro irrigation officers of the Horticulture Department in Anantapur and Chittoor district commenced on Thursday. Tips on raising orchards and selection of beneficiaries under NREGS and Horticulture Department were being taught to the participants.

ANANTAPUR: About 20,000 sachets of Karnataka arrack which was being smuggle into district was seized by the Prohibition and Excise police near Gandodivaripalli in Tanakallu mandal on Thursday. According to CI Ramakrishna and SIs Vijaykumar and Shivashankar they found the sachets in a lorry coming to Kadiri. They also arrested lorry driver Jaffer Khan, Venkatarami Reddy and Venkataramana.

ANANTAPUR: One B. Gangi Reddy (40) of Kutalapalli in Nallamada mandal was found dead outside the village on Thursday morning. According to the police, unidentified persons had slit his throat to kill him. He went to Nallamada on Wednesday morning and had allegedly taken liquor along with the acquaintances.
