Absolved of smuggling charges

New Delhi: After a legal wrangle spanning over 10 years, a city court has absolved a guest house owner here of the charge of conspiring with a Sharjah-based businessman to smuggle foreign currency to Dubai. “No incriminating documents were recovered from the possession of accused Haji Shaffat Ali and the IO has not made inquiry with regard to the source or purchase of the foreign currency,” ACMM Kamini Lau said in an order.
