BANGALORE: The State Government has decided to develop 10 gardens in Mysore city at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.02 crore. Replying to Shankarlinge Gowda (BJP) during question hour in the Legislative Assembly on Friday, Minister for Horticulture Shashikanth Akkappa Naik said Rs. 20 lakh had been earmarked for the purpose in the current fiscal year. The gardens to be developed are Curzon Park block 2, Nishad Bagh Park, Jaldarshini Guesthouse, Jaldarshini Park, garden at the Regional Commissioner’s office, district garden, K.R. Hospital garden, Government Guesthouse garden, Gordon Park and the garden of the department on the premises of the Karnataka Exhibition Authority, he said. Leader of the Opposition N. Dharam Singh and senior Congress member M. Mallikarjun Kharge urged the Government to order an inquiry into an incident that occurred at the Karnataka State Women’s University in Bijapur on Thursday. Tension prevailed at the university’s Syndicate meeting held on the campus when activists of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad allegedly forced their entry into the meeting hall. The Congress members, who raised the issue during zero hour, condemned the unruly behaviour of the ABVP activists during the meeting and demanded their arrest.
