Vatal Nagaraj stages dharna
BANGALORE: Vatal Nagaraj (Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha), who was dissatisfied with the reply given by Horticulture Minister Shashikanth Akkappa Naik, staged a dharna in front of the press gallery in the Legislative Assembly on Friday for a few minutes.
In a reply to Mr. Nagaraj during question hour, Mr. Naik said the mite menace had affected coconut palms on 1.13 lakh hectares in the State. A sum of Rs. 1.56 crore had been set aside to spray the affected coconut palms with pesticide, he said.
Mr. Nagaraj said the Minister was unaware of the large-scale mite menace in districts such as Hassan, Chamarajanagar, Tumkur and Kolar and staged a dharna.
Speaker Krishna said the subject needed to be discussed in detail.
