ITI, Toyota tie up to train students

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Government’s Department of Training and Technical Education will sign a memorandum of understanding with Toyota Kirloskar Motors to facilitate implementation of Toyota-Technical Education Programme at Sir C.V. Raman Industrial Training Institute here in Dhirpur. A decision to the effect was taken at a meeting of the Delhi Cabinet this past week.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, who chaired the meeting, said every year 38 students of two units of mechanic motor vehicle trade of Sir C.V. Raman ITI Dhirpur and instructors would be trained in automobile technology. This would go a long way in increasing the job prospects of these students and in updating the knowledge of instructors.

Under the MoU, the students of ITI would learn how to maintain and undertake periodic maintenance of various types of Toyota vehicles. The students will also undergo theory as well as practical training at ITI premises and shop floor training at Toyota Kirloskar Motor dealership located closest to the Institute.

The programme aims to help students prepare for the demands and huge employment opportunities in the automobile sector. The Toyota Kirloskar Motor would bear the entire cost of study materials and training equipment. The programme would also include training for instructors.
