Petition of CBI turned down on June 8 Agency represented by Suryanarayana Murthy
ANANTAPUR: The District and Sessions Court postponed framing of charges against 15 accused in the Paritala Ravindra murder case again on Friday to July 23 as one of the accused K. Ramamohan Reddy failed to appear in the court. Presence of all accused in the court is mandatory while framing of charges. Ramamohan failed to turn up in the court citing illness due to his diabetic problem. He is lodged in Cherlapalli jail in Hyderabad along with J. Srinivasa Reddy, alleged shooter in the killing episode. Postponed framing
After considering the petition filed on behalf of Ramamohan Reddy, Judge K. Gaddenna postponed the framing of 22 charges, already finalised by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the agency probing the murder case against the 15 accused, to July 23 and also extended their remand till that date. Except Ramamohan Reddy all other 14 appeared in the court. They include G. Surynarayana Reddy alias Suri, J. Srinivasa Reddy alias Moddu Sreenu, P. Narayana Reddy, V. Rekhamaiah, V. Kondanna, V. Sreenivasulu, B. Ranganayakulu, V. Hanumantha Reddy, T. Konda Reddy, M. Obi Reddy, T. Peddi Reddy, G. Venkateswar Reddy, K. Rammohan Reddy and B. Ramaswamy appeared in the court. The case had already been split for another accused P. Goverdhan Reddy as the police were unable to trace his whereabouts for the last few months. Prosecutor for CBI Suryanarayana Murthy appeared in the court on behalf of the probe agency. Meanwhile, authoritative sources stated that the High Court on Friday permitted CBI to interrogate Ramamohan Reddy in jail on his willingness to turn an approver in the case. The CBI would take a decision on Ramamohan Reddy’s plea after weighing the pros and cons of his claims regarding the case, provided they were helpful in prosecution and would have a definite impact on the case after interrogating him. Petition
The District on Sessions Court here had turned down the petition of the CBI on June 8 in spite of Special Public Prosecutor of CBI M. Venkoba Rao’s arguments seeking permission to interrogate in jail, citing an observation made by the High Court that the investigating agency should be given every chance to explore the possibilities to resolve the case. The HC’s permission to CBI is likely to further delay the framing of charges against the accused. The District Court also adjourned the Tagarakunta Prabhakar murder case to July 23 and extended the remand of all the accused in the case till that date.
