Alappuzha: Amidst a debate on allowing women into the Sabarimala hill shrine, Devaswom Minister G. Sudhkaran on Friday said the State Government did not intend to bring in any legislation on the issue. The Minister, however, claimed that a recent ‘secret survey’ had found that a vast majority of the Hindu women wanted to be allowed into the temple. “The Government did not intend to bring in a legislation to allow women in the age group of 10-50 years into the temple as a related case was pending before the Supreme Court,” Mr. Sudhakaran said. He said the ‘secret survey’ revealed that a majority of Hindu women in the State favoured changing the temple custom. — PTI
