Kakinada: The Bouddha Dhamma Prachara Parishad will soon have its centres in all the districts, according to former MP and national president of the parishad K.S.R. Murthy .

Adddressing a press conference here on Friday, he said the dhamma preached and practised by Lord Buddha was more relevant in the present day society, which had been riddled with conflicts, confrontations, prejudices on simple issues.

Upasana- the meditation practiced by Goutham Buddha to attain enlightenment was the only solution to the end conflicts and achieve peace, he said.

With a view to propagating the message of Lord Buddha and the Buddha dhamma, he said, the Prachara Parishad was started in Hyderabad and soon it extended its activities all over the state.

Training ground

The Parishad central office along with the Buddha Vihar, the training ground for the monks would be soon established in a sprawling area of 100 acres in the vicinity of Hyderabad, he added .

Mr. Murthy who was a former bureaucrat having served in both State and Central governments, said that the Parishad was now carrying on its activities with the existing Buddha vihara trusts in some places and the ultimate aim was to start Parishad centres in all the district headquarters and other prominent cities.

Spreading the message

As a part of the programme to spread the message of Lord Buddha among all sections, he said, a series of Dhamma Deeksha awareness sadassus were planned and the first sadassu was held in Hyderabad during May and the second in West Godavari in June.

The third in series, he said, would be held at Ambedkar Bhavan here on July 15 under his stewardship.

The other participants will include Sri Anand Chief of Maha Bodhi Society, Bangalore, Prof Venkata Rajan of Osmania University and R.Sundar Singh, a retired IAS officer from Hyderabad .Dr Rajesh chief of Nrutya Kalanikethan, Eluru along with his troupe will stage a dance drama based on the life of Goutham Buddha. .

East Godavari Collector M Subrahmanyam will be the guest of honour.
