No proper bus transport policy for Capital: BJP
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan on Friday accused the Sheila Dikshit Government of not framing a proper bus transport policy in the nine years of her rule leading to the present crisis that was precipitated by a number of fatal accidents involving Blueline buses on the roads.
Addressing a press conference, Dr. Vardhan demanded that a “safe” transport policy be framed at the earliest. Stating that the Supreme Court had from time to time issued several orders and directions to the Delhi Government for creating a safe transport system, Dr. Vardhan said it was due to corruption alone in the Delhi Government that these had been overlooked.
He said the Government had failed to ensure speed governors in all public transport buses. He said the directions regarding technical and educational qualification of the drivers and conductors had not been followed in Delhi.
