Jewels stolen from Jagadamba temple

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Two days ahead of Bonalu festival, thieves broke into Jagadamba temple atop Golconda fort and took away gold and silver ornaments. The police suspects involvement of some professional criminals in the temple heist. Mild tension prevailed in the area with hundreds of devotees gathering at the temple where the traditional Bonalu festival would begin on Sunday.

The Golconda police Inspector John Wesley said the offenders broke open locks of the temple main door in the early hours. The police higher-ups have tightened security in the area and have posted special pickets at the temple as a precautionary measure.
