Lorries collide and catch fire, four killed
NAMAKKAL: Four persons were killed and two others injured when two lorries collided and caught fire near Mohanur here early on Friday.
The police said a lorry carrying onions from Samraj Nagar in Karnataka was on its way to Tiruchi when it collided with another lorry carrying sand at N. Puthupatti.
The diesel tank of one of the lorries burst, setting the vehicles on fire.
Kannan, driver of the lorry carrying onions, and Rajamanickam, driver of the sand-laden lorry, were killed.
Mohammed Rafi, an onion trader, and the owner of the sand lorry Kumar of Attaiyampatti in Salem district were charred to death.
Another trader, Abdul Rahim, and cleaner Pandian sustained burns and were rushed to hospital. — Staff Reporter
